If it is the intended bill, the authors need to leave politics entirely, find a nice vegan commune and graze for the rest of their days. The proposal shows such an immense misunderstanding of something as basic as salt in cooking as to defy logic and reality.

If it is intended as a salt reduction act, it is a starting point where they can negotiate down to posting sodium levels on the menu and posting health warnings about the consumption of too much sodium.

What's even funnier is the bill isn't banning sodium chloride, it's banning "salt." Since the limit is clearly stated to be zero, that pretty much rules out everything except pure deionized water.

Poor Lydiaa

You never cuss? No words never spoken in the presence of parents? Salty is American slang for impolite language, usually involving profanity, vulgarity, obscenity, etc.

Oh, and midnight swims in cool water are a wonderful technique for initiating cuddling immediately thereafter "I'm soooo cold, help warm me up!" I had that pulled on me several times in my youth, but way back then, I didn't understand how other people got cold above about 3 degrees C.

Xeq - that is what leads me to believe it is a spot bill and not a fully fleshed out bill. It is too vague to be anything real. Start out by defining salt, explain why it is a problem, then set limits for its usage - that I would see as a realistic attempt to nanny protect the proletariat from excessive salt intake. It would also effectively kill the hospitality industry in New York.

Hmm, interesting definition of salty. Apart from the obvious ones I say, like bi*ch, Bas*ard and B*oody (I say a lot of B words hmm... ), I actually hardly ever cuss. Not even when I got poked by a plastic nail on the weekend... I just whinge a lot

In the States, we would use whine, instead of the more British whinge.

They invented the language, so I'm having a hard time putting a right or wrong in here.

Sidenote: Someone I do not know, recently identified himself in a class I took (for work) as an ABC, American Born Chinese. I chuckled and thought of you.

My guess is that this is a spot bill. Spot bills are proposed legislation that are designed to be placeholders for more serious legislation down the road. Cut off dates for the introduction of new bills makes spot bills, such as this, a valuable commodity. Legislators present bills that have no chance of passing, get sent to hibernate in committee, then are available for alteration to a more reasoned, practical passable bill. Other legislators go looking for co-authors with spot bills open and are willing to deal to get the bill rewritten. Having a spot bill handy late in the session can earn a legislator serious brownie points and more importantly, owed favors down the road. It also has the possibility to get the legislator's name on some important legislation which gets them recognition back home where even the serious research voters never look at the idiotic spot bills that sit in committee, just the ones that come up for a vote.

Many years back I saw a spot bill that called for the neutering of euthanized cats and dogs. I worked on what it became. Not a word of the original text remained.

That is one of the lamest things I have ever heard. Yet, we keep voting for these guys.

Very interesting... When you whine here you tend to use more higher pitched sounds which closely resemble words and possibly puppy cries... I tend to avoid whine cause people always asks you if you want "cheese with that whine", gets annoying after a while. Whinge is the more coherent verbal version of the same protest.

ABC actually works here as well hehe ^-^.

If I had a dollar for every "It's called english cause it was origionally invented by people from england!" argument in regards to the right and wrongs of the english language with my damn american guild mates... hmm... I could totally get a computer upgrade :neko:

p.s. you guys still drive on the wrong side of the road =P

We drive on both sides, same as everybody else.

We're just not confused about which side to put the steering wheel on our cars. If you put them on the right side, people would have to reach for their beer with their left hand and possibly spill some. Where's the justice in that?
