Ok I have gotten my shamen as good as it gets giving my playing time and habits (no time for raiding) mostly faction and some dungeon gear, I am starting to re-start my warlock, my very first character, and was wondering if I could get a class update.

From forum reading, which always comes with a grain of salt, I gather Demo is still the leveling/grinding spec? Low frills, low down time, similar to BM hunters? Destruction though looks terrific right now, and am spending points happily, perhaps too many.

Nuts and bolts questions, spec suggestions would be lovely for demo and destruction. How much to hit is necessary in either spec? Haste? Crit?

Hmm, it's been a long time since I was that lvl, but in general it seems like something isn't right. Unfortunately you don't get dual wield until lvl 40, which is when the Enh Shaman really starts to shine, but they aren't bad before that.

Some of it depends on how you play. As I recall when leveling, I went for maintaining a high rate of pulls at a constant level, instead of pulling a whole bunch all at once. Because the Shaman only has leather armor until 40, you just aren't going to be able to mass pull a ton and weed through them. However, I seem to recall pulling 1 or 2 mobs seemingly forever, as long as they were similar levels. I also went the DPS route. No shield, use a good 2h and put flametongue on it until you get windfury at 30. Windfury ROCKS. Also make sure you're dropping your totems down, they make a big difference.

If you find that you're running out of mana, start using Water Shield instead of Lightning Shield, that should help too.

Typically I would drop totems, pop the mob with a ranged spell and then beat down. If there are others within range, rinse repeat, and pull up the totems (getting mana back) and move on to the next mob.

What's your shaman's name and realm? I'll look him up on the Armory and see if I have any other insights.

I know that Destruction, and at some times, Affliction are the raiding specs for all of my guild's warlocks. That said, you should probably go Demonology for leveling because it's a lot more survivable and you'd be able to plow through some quests faster.

Tried 10man a little while ago... big note - melee can no longer hit her in phase 2 :lol: I was the only ranged DPS -_-

Hrm, a guildy in a pug said you could melee if you stayed right under the center of her. I'll double check.

Used to, you can't melee her now. Even DK pets couldn't reach her

Melee can hit Onyxia the same way they've always been able to hit her: Stand on Hunter Pets and Use Special Attacks only. However, we had melee run add control (You can see Ignite Weapon easily enough) and range stay on Ony. She died in 4 minutes.

*shrug* I'm a tank, so all I have to go on is all the melee going "I can't hit her blah blah blah" while I was awash in a sea of adds ;)

Thanks for the info guys.

For the lair guards, can you put a tank on them and the tank live? I'm seeing mixed reports. Some saying you have to kite them and range them down quickly. Others saying just throw a tank on them.

I'm trying to put together something for my small guild to give this an attempt on 10 man.

Ignite Weapon is the only real raid or tank threat I've seen from the Guardians. They cannot move while casting it.

I was able to tank 2 lair guards and a gaggle of the little dragonlings with zero problems and a bored healer. Was a little rough when they got Ony to 40% without killing those adds first and I had to tank her as well (rough as in I died about 1 minute later ;) )...

I didn't bother kiting them and ignite weapon didn't hurt that much. ;)

Finally got to Icehowl on the 10 man heroic ToC. We didn't get to fight him, but he was around for 10 seconds or so :p

Our raid comp is pretty shitty. We have no shaman, only 1 paladin (whom was an alt) and no rogues. All of the most-wanted classes are running with the other 10-man group because they start later. Kind of sucks, but I think we may finish this event before they do. If we had bloodlust, it would have already been done.

We have all of the normal mode achievements up to faction champions, though. So only 2 more things left to do in normal difficulty. The Jaraxxus achievement was intense, on our 4th try I think we finally got it and it was down to the wire... Jaraxxus was chasing me and I hit him with Kill Shot for the win.

Also, whoever said Onyxia 10 was harder than 25, they lied. One-shot, no deaths. Collect emblems.

I always hate it when H Occ comes around as the daily. Even after all this time people still can't handle the last boss. Only took like five wipes this time! One of these days I'll get around to doing the achievements for it, it's hard to find people that are willing to do achieve runs for the Occu.

Ony is pretty freaking easy, which is a little disappointing. Wish they had made her a little harder.

I'm in the same boat Jocificus. It seems finding people willing to do the H Occ achievements is a pain in the ***. Three of us are done with the heroic achievements except for the voids & make it count in Occulus. Can never seem to find people willing to try them, and if we do, even the voids go horrible. :(

How hard can it possibly be seeing as there is an acheivement to complete it with only a single color. Hell, hasn't the last boss been solo'd with every color drake?

Maybe we just suck.

As for Onyxia though, thank you guys for your information. My guild was able to make our way in & down her in our third attempt with no deaths on that one.

I think people just don't pay attention. The details of how the abilities for each drake works can have a profound impact on how you should play.
