The Samurai vs Viking show was a complete joke.
The compared a Katana with a Great Axe.
And a Naginata with a Long Sword.
My guess is that they also failed to use a Japanese warrior from the same period, as well. Comparing a later period Japanese warrior with a viking is seriously stupid. By the 1600's, the Samurai has already adopted armor and techniques from the Europeans that came to the Island. There's a solid argument to be made, for example, that Musashi's two sword technique was based on his experiences watching Portuguese sailors at rapier and dagger play.

It should've been Naginata vs Great Axe, and Katana vs Long Sword.
Idiots.
And they should do the same tests with the weapons they're comparing.
That drives me batty, as well.

There are so many things wrong with the way they compare the weapons it's ridiculous.
The ultimate annoyance is how much weight they give to the weapon over the warrior. I assure you that I can perform every single cut with a sharp longsword that I could do with a Katana. In the end, it's about technique and focus, and not about the weapon (given a cetain base level of quality). The Japanese did not have a corner on the market when it came to quality blade construction over the Europeans. And the experts they bring on? UGH. Have a reasonable discussion and put the **** cultural ego aside, gentlemen.
