This topic came up in guild chat last night. In trying to explain it to folks (returnees) i realized how little I really understood about the rewards, what you are entitled to, how to flag a character, and how to claim the rewards.

I started to try to type up a basic outline of the system, and realized that I just don't really know it well enough to even do that.

Here is a link to the FAQ at Sony's site

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts ... _id=135831

From that page, here is a list of the rewards you get at various anniversaries
SOE wrote:
1st year - Lesson of the Devoted:
The player is surrounded by a beautiful blue/white glow as they gain double experience for half an hour every 20 hours.

2nd year - Infusion of the Faithful:
The player enjoys maximum resistances and statistics and a faster run speed for 15 minutes while he glows brightly with power. Usable once every 20 hours.

3rd year - Chaotic Jester:
Summons a Bristlebane puppet that persists for 15 minutes and will randomly cast various spells that provide benefits or minor penalties. Usable once every 20 hours.

4th year- Expedient Recovery:
All the player’s corpses are summoned to their feet and given 100% experience resurrection if they are still eligible. Usable once per week.

5th year - Steadfast Servant:
Summons a creature that casts healing spells upon the player and others nearby. Lasts for half an hour or until you zone. Usable once every 20 hours.

6th year - Staunch Recovery:
The player is healed with health, mana, and endurance fully restored. Usable once every 3 days.

7th year - Intensity of the Resolute:
Surrounds the player in a glow of energy and increases the power of the player’s melee abilities, spells and heals substantially for 1 minute. Usable once every 4 hours.

8th year - Throne of Heroes:
The player is teleported to the Throne of Heroes in the Guild Lobby. Usable every 72 minutes.

9th Year - Armor of Experience:
The player is granted several layers of protection from harm for 90 seconds or 10 strikes. This protection lessens as you take more damage. Usable once every 20 hours.

10th Year - Resupply Agent:
Summons a mechanical merchant to the player's side who sells supplies and buys loot. He will stay up for 10 minutes or until dismissed by the player. Usable once every 20 hours.

11th year - Clockwork Banker:
Summon Clockwork Banker: Usable once every 20 hours, a helpful mechanical banker is the latest initiative from the new Norrathian Banking Consortium.

For those not familiar, as you can see, some of these are quite useful.

Warning: Make sure you fully understand the flagging process and it's limitations before you decide which characters to enable.

Let's use this thread to ask/answer questions about the system.

Lessons is a very useful Veteran Reward, for obvious reasons. It does not however stack with experience boosting potions and I don't think it stacks with the Enchanter experience boosting aura. However, it does stack with bonus experience weekends and hot zone boosts.

I have never actually used Infusion of the Faithful, but with the state of group gear at the higher levels, max resists and stats are trivial, and I doubt the run speed boost is higher than our current Run 8, or for that matter, Evasion, which is usable every 15 minutes or so.

Chaotic Jester... I forget this one is even there. I've seen it used in an emergency for the random buffs but I don't have it hotkeyed.

Expedient Recovery - I use this one periodically, as it returns your experience without dispelling any buffs you have on at the time. Its handy for cleaning up after testing raids. However, there is currently a bug where if you have the Revive Sickness still, the AA will summon your body, but not return your exp without resetting the AA. You can get a merc/cleric res on the body still.

Steadfast Servant - When I was catching up in levels, I would use this with Lessons to plow through light blues without using my merc, which steals part of your experience. I haven't used it in a long time, and tend to forget its there.

Staunch Recovery - Great for getting back into a close raid after a death when every bit of DPS counts, or I know I'm going to need to use my discs (mana regen is high enough, with a mod rod, I can be casting limited nukes again quickly, but End regen is nearly non-existant).

Intensity of the Resolute - This is the key AA to our raid burns and used every night we raid.

Throne of Heros - just flat handy.

Armor of Experience - A phenomenal "oh ****" disc that I keep hotkeyed right next to Weaponshield. Its a degrading rune that absorbs 100% of incoming melee damage for 10 hits, then 75% for 10 hits, then 50% for 10 hits and finally 25% for 10 hits. In an emergency, just before WS fades, Ill hit AoE, bandolier in my shield and hit Outrider's Evasion. With Shield block AA and the enhance avoidance of Evasion, I can extend the 10-10-10 rune as long as possible. I have Gamtext set for the last set of 10 so I can instead trigger either Master (50% absorption instead of 25% from AoE) or Protection of the Pathfinder (35% absorption).

Resupply Agent - Handy sometimes in areas with lots of drops that fill bags quickly.

Clockwork Baner - Same as Agent, but I've used it a few times for quests where I forgot one of the turn in items in the bank, and there is no easy access to a bank.

Is this based on birthdate of the character/account or off of the actual time the account has been active?

Actually Chaotic Jester is useful in raids en mass. While he occasionally causes problems (shrink/grow randomly) he will SOMETIMES (about once or twice per call per jester) grant a full mana/health/stamina restore. This can be useful on a 54 man raid. (note that the jester's target is not necessarily you-- can hit anyone around you. so we'd use it and typically get 3-6 mana restores on our healers in a 15 minute fight.

Total years the account has been paid... ie paid for 12 months, you get the first Veteran Reward... paid for 24, you get the second... etc.

When you do a /played, it will tell you the entitled time on the account, and you get Vet Rewards based on that.

I'm sure it's covered in the FAQ, but you get one additional character to claim rewards on per entitled year as well.

If you pay in advance (ie, year sub), you get that amount of time added to your entitled play time as a bonus.

So if you get a new account, and buy a year sub, you can get Lesson of the Devoted off the bat.

As TheRiov said, Jester can be useful for the full mana restores- but I often have him out for the full time and don't get anything.

Steadfast Servant is great for solo lesson burns- you get heals/haste from it, and it takes no EXP away from you at all, unlike a merc.

Ladas's write up is pretty spot on for most of them.

I'll add that I adore Throne of Heroes.

Vet rewards are cool. They have them in EQ2, as well.
